The beautiful village of Autignac is a traditional Languedoc wine making village in the heart of the Faugères appellation.
North of Béziers (20 mins), Montpellier (40 mins), Carcassonne (1hr) and close to Pézenas, the Canal du Midi, the Regional Parc du Haut Languedoc and the mediterranean beaches, it is the ideal base to explore the diverse landscape of Languedoc Roussillon.
The village has a fantastic bakery which provides our guests with daily fresh bread and pastries, two grocers stores selling local fresh produce, a post office, chemist and a lively cafe/restaurant that serves a hard to beat 12 euro 4 course lunch complete with local wine and coffee. During the summer months the cafe extends it's terrace into the village square and serves a great evening menu along with pizzas.
Surrounding villages within 5 minutes drive of Le Saint André offer more cafes and restaurants, a supermarket, cashpoint and other amenties.
Autignac is home to some of the best Faugeres wines and we have good relations with the producers in the village with whom we can arrange tours and tastings and even shipment back to the UK if something takes your liking! In spring and autumn guided walks around the vineyards are arranged along with tastings and delicious lunches of local terroir produce.
Like many French villages Autignac may, on first impressions, look a little sleepy but be warned, the local village fete lasts for 6 days and nights!
For the more energetic, the village is surrounded by fantastic walking and cycling set amongst the stunning scenery of the vineyards and the rolling foot hills of L'Espinouse mountains. We can provide route cards with gps downloads, maps and guide books and by prior arrnagement can offer guiding for larger groups. For horse lovers there is also and equestrian centre within an easy walk of the village.
